John Granger, RIP
July 22nd, 2010Cousin John’s truck, they put that black sash on it and then other truckers blast their horns when they drive by. Cousin John was a trucker, a Harley rider, a smiling guy who liked a beer and a cig, he played French Horn as a kid, and most of my memories of him are him laughing.
marketing genius
July 21st, 2010Like everyone, I am a big fan of those Old Spice ads directed by Eric of Tim&Eric Awesome Show. Did you know they've got the Old Spice guy responding to individual tweets that he's being sent? Genius. They are really funny on their own.

f-book
July 19th, 2010When I heard about this film, I thought, it must be a joke. But apparently it's not. The true story of the creation of Facebook. Written by Sorkin, directed by Fincher, starring that guy who was awesome in Adventureland. And Timberlake. I don't know what to think, but it's def got me interested.

the species cup
July 7th, 2010I know I've been working on a ton of promos for BBC Earth, and I know World Cup mania is in full swing, but this ad is so good, and its use of the animals is so dead on target…the ostriches running it out, the cheetah slide tackle, over the croc jaws…really really good…
chik chik chik
July 7th, 2010This is the new one from !!!, which they claim should be pronounced as any three sounds in a row, chik chik chik or boom boom boom or whatever…
I saw these guys play in DC once in this tiny art space on Eye St downtown and they tore the roof off, it was amazing. This song has a stone groove that just doesn't stop, kind of like most of their other tracks…the video is helpful and mindbending…
They play Williamsburg Waterfont on Aug 15, if you're in town, you wanna go? It's free!
too many notes
July 7th, 2010playing in the drone band, I think about that phrase a lot, "too many notes", 'cuz we try to stick to one note per song…and when I yt'd up that scene, I was so impressed by how amazing it is…there is so much going on in it, from the politics to the jealous composers to the genius…I love that when the Emperor is finally prompted to say that there's too many notes, Mozart doesn't hesitate to hit him back with "there are neither too few, nor too many." ZING!

June 28th, 2010this track…I keep listening to it over and over (the album version), it's got something so good about it…it's great that at Glastonbury Florence showed up to make it happen with the xx, and I love that she sings it in the same way they sliced and diced her vocal on the remix…great… FIXED!
