We had this amazing day at Riis beach in Rockaway…we decided to go for a walk on the beach and just kept walking and walking…

Eventually we came to this sort of fenced off area of the beach with this strange looking building. A nice Russian guy who was fishing there told us to go on in, and explained that it was this sort of club/resort where you could get a season pass or pay a day pass of $50. It had cabanas and, as we explored more of it, about 4 buildings like this one.

It looked like in its day it would have been filled to the brim with folks…who knows, maybe it was just too late in the season and actually it’s filled to the brim in the height of summer…

As it was, there were still a bunch of people. Super tan parents smoking and drinking beer while kids knocked each other down and threw footballs. It was surreal.
