It seems appropriate to post this today when so many folks feel the need to go to Times Square…points to my sister for playing me a Matt and Kim track on the drive back to NYC the other day, these guys are pretty good…points to the video even though maybe the very end is weak(?)…points to the band for being damn sexy…happy New year’s Eve, people…

I made this the other night, and when I made it I wasn’t sure if it was working or not. But now I’ve spent a couple of days living with it, and listening to it over and over and I think it’s working well. It’s like a fever dream…what do you think?…maybe wait until tonight to listen to it if you can, youknowhatI’msayin?
[audio:Electro_Singles.mp3]Wow…fluxtumblr just blew my mind with this…this is not the official video for this song, but a piece done by a dance troupe in Austin, TX. Beautifully well done, and really really well directed. If you aren’t in the mood for this kind of thing, well get in it and watch this. Full-screen if possible.
Hey wouldn’t that be a great name for a blog and then a book based on the blog? "nerds (continue to) rule", I love it. This could be the first post:

This song is kind of weak, but in this context it works less like a song unto itself and more like a soundtrack to this amazing video. Too creepy for a Monday, I’ve saved this one for Tuesday for you…thank me later…(sent from Malcolm, thanks!)
it’s amazing that they just keep remixing this track…somehow it doesn’t get old to me…especially when it’s so thoroughly deconstructed…
So, NASA. I’m not really 100% sold, though I like the North America, South America idea, and they’ve got some great images and music, and what a line-up of guest stars on the album! But somehow the tracks don’t quite coalesce into the brilliance they suggest.
That said, this is kind of great. Kool Keith and Tom Waits on the same track?! Yes please. But it kind of sounds like they’re on different tracks that were forced together, and even Tom is one of my all-time faves, I have to give it to Kool Keith on this one. The video helps to kick it into a new level though, and it’s fun to see Tom come in as the big smoke monster…not bad…

There’s a bunch of brooha over this director ripping off ffffound images for his latest video (which frankly isn’t that great), but this video, which he made earlier, is solid. Good concept, gets better as it goes along. The song is ok I guess…I loved that Lenny Kravitz album when it came out…I was in college and Jeff C and I went to see Lenny in concert at GW in DC…he did "Let Love Rule" as the encore and when the song finished, the crowd just kept singing "let…love…rule…" over and over and Lenny walked out into the crowd…I touched his dreads at one point, it was weird…
still, strange move from Justice to remix it, right? Also major points off for disabling embedding in youtube. Losers. Forcing me to go over to his website, dl the QT, convert it to flash, etc. Why? Let people embed it for crying out loud…
Just wow. Sometimes a song put with found footage can work together to be kind of subime. Put another way, you know I love stuff that makes me feel like I’m on psychedelics when I’m stone cold sober a 10am in the morning. I feel like I’ve seen this footage before, or atleast some clips of this show…I’m pretty sure it’s Japanese, and as kooky-weird as Teletubbies or HR Puffnstuff…
Stick with it, both the video and song get better and more affecting as they go along…
I love that story about Brian Wilson driving somewhere when he was young and hearing "Be My Baby" come over the radio and being so blown away by it that he had to pull over and stop the car. They say that inspired him to make Pet Sounds and that inspired the Beatles to make Sgt. Pepper’s. These days I’m a little burned out on Sgt. Pepper’s; also it took me a long time to be into the Beach Boys, and now I’m pretty sick of Pet Sounds. But I can always listen to "Be My Baby", that song doesn’t get old!
I subscribed to this podcast called Coverville that’s all covers and the first one I listened to had this amazing cover of "Be My Baby"…I’ve been meaning to post it for ages…really good on headphones…
It’s by DM Stith, who’s on Sufjan Steven’s label, and I guess was discovered by Sufjan? Heard that somewhere…anyway, the track is great, I should check out the album…
[audio:be_my_baby.mp3]We’re on a shoot in Orlando and last night while having dinner with the execs from TNT one of them told this weird story about leaving the last shoot we were all on (in Phoenix) at 3am to get a 4:30am flight. She was in the airport, it was completely dark, deserted and shut down because it was so early. This was the day after Michael Jackson had died, and the only other person in the airport was sitting in a chair across from her, reading the USA Today special report about MJ and crying her eyes out. She said it was pretty weird, and that she wanted to surreptitiously take a photo of the woman but couldn’t bring herself to do it…I could relate…
It made me think of this vid that I saw a week or so ago, and thought "why haven’t I posted that on my blog?" So now I have…
Yeah, people are out there thinking about this stuff…I love how the ideas just keep on coming…one clever idea after another…
I know it can be too easy to find Indian crazy stuff to laugh at, but this clip is both laughable and impressive, I swear. The flurry of dance styles, set changes, costume changes…the Michael Jackson moves, the 50’s-style women’s outfits…the computer bloops and synths…it’s really really great.
there’s no reason to watch America’s Got Talent when we’ve got youtube.
