silver sprung

Is it Spring where you are?
Yesterday was just stunning here (until early evening) so I threw together a quick Spring mix to listen to as I walked around in the sunny sun sunshine. Then I figured I’d give it to you! Keep in mind, it’s pretty random. The criteria for songs was two:
1. it should remind me of Spring
or
2. it should be something I wanted to hear
(right-click to download, then unzip)
Other than that I was just scrolling through my itunes, alphabetically by band, starting at Z. Some odd choices, but overall it was a great soundtrack for my day. Enjoy.
1. Ray of Light (string quartet version) – …a bit long, but I love it.
2. Tank! – Cowboy Bebop soundtrack…this is so amazing, so short and so much energy. Can’t remember where I got it from. Gotta get more of this stuff.
3. Out of the Races and On To The Tracks – The Rapture…from the Rules of Attraction soundtrack, worth seeing just for this one amazing split-screen scene in the middle of the film…
4. Subterranean Homesick Alien – Radiohead…I’m reading the 33 1/3 book on OK Computer, and this song is so spring-like
5. Man of Constant Sorrow – Soggy Bottom Boys…not as good as the Ralph Stanley version, but still, such an epitome of country music
6. Pretty Girl – Ween…the Ween country stuff is so mind-blowing
7. Positively Inclined – Wax Tailor…Wax always has positive rappers on his albums, and this is no exception…
8. Mo’ Funky – Zoobombs…I’m not usually that into jam-funk, but when it’s done by Japanese funk-punks I love it.
9. Protect ya neck – Wu-tang…this track still blows me away. In my consciousness because I was reading this article about artists who have a debut album that just explodes and they’re never able to quite capture that same level again. This track is so good!
10. Springtheme – Ween…the title, ’nuff said…
11. Plenty more – Squirrel Nut Zippers…after all these years, it’s amazing to think that these guys sort of kick-started that whole indie-swing phase in the 90’s…
12. I Can See For Miles – Lord Sitar…The Who on sitar, ’nuff said.
13. Teenage Kicks – The Undertones…this is apparently John Peel’s favorite track ever
14. Heart and Soul – t*pau…from the 80’s, but this song is fantastic pop…
15. Crashing the Afterglow – Versus…the first Versus song I fell in love with…it’s really really good, and an epic at almost 7 minutes!
16. Somersault – Zero 7 (dangermouse remix feat. MF Doom)…not as good as I want it to be, but still pretty darn good.
awesome, thanks. i look forward to listening to this.
this reminds me that listmaker 4 needs to happen soon.
this is just a quick n random mix…official mix coming soon…
and yeah listmaker 4! also New Pornographers. I have a playlist for a mix for you as well, and that John Peel song is on it, so now I’ll have to replace it…it’s slow going, but hopefully it’ll get done at some point…
