This feels like a scene out of Hitchhiker's Guide.
While I am heavily in favor of ineitragtng technology into schools, I also am aware that the technology in and of itself is not the solution. Technology competent teachers are a must, but even this all important aspect is not enough. What is also needed is, and this is where I agree with the author, to urge educators to focus on the desired result student learning and use technology only when it helps achieve that goal . Unfortunately it will take one generation more before old-school book teachers afraid of technology to give way to younger computer savvy, and hopefully well educated, teachers take over. And yes, technology integration is or should be an important goal for schools. Important not just because of the skills learned, but also because most learning in the future will be done in this manner. Skills on how to effectively search and be critical of information found on the internet, should also be taught. Computer research skills are as important as the integration of computers. We must change our way of thinking and evolve our education system in this manner.
